"First One"

First One

I lie awake again tonight
My eyes are open wide
I’m trying not to give in to
All that I feel inside
Our time together, in my mind
It constantly replays
And now the way I feel for him
Grows stronger every day
And honestly it scares me so
This way he makes me feel
He has my heart and mind in battle
Deciding if it’s even real
Because my heart, it truly knows
It’s never felt like this:
The first one I have ever met
That I can’t and won’t resist
The first one that never leaves my thoughts
And stays within my dreams
The first one who ever showed me that
Life isn’t what it seems
The first one who, I am so sure
Would never bring me harm
The first one who causes me to cry
When I can’t be in his arms
The first one that I miss like crazy
When I’m not by his side
The first one I can’t help but want
Despite the many times I’ve tried
The first one who ever honestly
Cared about the way I felt
The first one who’s always made me smile
And when our hands meet, I melt
The first one who has given me
The feeling of no doubt
The first one who’s the only one
I cannot live without
He is the wonderful first one
I’ve given my heart to
And I am so glad to say
That my first one is you.
