"This Night"

December 30, 2005

This Night

by: R. A. Cvetich

This night the dark clouds melt into rain
The swift winds whistle a gentle melody
The lightning draws pictures across the sky
The raindrops speak to me in hushed voices
The thunder roars your name through the night
The moon peeks from behind the clouds
Trying to get a glimpse of you
The stars do not shine for they cannot find you
They've given up hope and have turned out their lights
They miss you as I miss you now:
Like the noonday sun misses the breeze
Like the flower longs for the rain
Like the thunder waits for the lightning
Like the moon misses the stars
The trees rustle and gossip amongst eachother
They whisper of my quest for you
All this night asks the same question as I do now:
Why are you not with me this night?
