The Truth

The seconds tick by agonizingly slowly without you
I can’t believe the tear-stained hell I’ve put both of us through
And the lies I watched devour feelings locked so deep inside
That I never let penetrate the mask I hide behind
I want to confess secret words meant for you and no one else
The message once imagined by my true and unmasked self
Words I thought I’d forgotten, nearly withered and erased
Secrets I must release now as we stand here face to face
There are so many feelings left unveiled that you should know
How my longing heart shatters every time you let me go
The way my eyes melt into tears whenever you are gone
The dreams of you kept silent by the bed I dreamt upon
The urgent need I feel to place a kiss upon your lips
The warm shivers that seize me underneath your fingertips
The safety that surrounds me when I’m wrapped up in your arms
And how I’m always missing you no matter where you are
The way that I am yearning for my eyes to meet with yours
Or how my legs are aching just to walk up to your door
And let you know that I’m willing to conquer all my fears
To show my deepest emotions; my hopes, my love, my tears
And speak these concealed words that until now have been unknown
The truth that surfaces at night whenever I’m alone
That I have truly loved you ever since the day we met
And there is no force on this earth that could make me forget
The desire I will always hold to be there by your side
And every intense feeling that I felt the need to hide
And once you know I pray you understand the way I feel
Until then I await the day the truth will be revealed
