Where You Are
By: R. A. Cvetich
Streetlights quickly flashing by
Staring at a benighted sky
Gazing at the brightest star
Does it shine there where you are?
Like I, are you making a wish
That we could share but one last kiss?
For that is all that I can do
Just stand outside and wish for you
And as the snow rests in my hair
I try to pretend I am there
I close my eyes and think real hard
And suddenly I’m where you are
I feel the salty ocean breeze
I hear it whistle through palm trees
We’re walking down the ocean shore
It’s like I’ve never felt before
Feet sinking into sugary sand
As we walk on hand in hand
And we gaze up and see that star
I see it does shine where you are
Moon gazing down from up above
And I am falling so in love
As you move close and hold me tight
On this romantic Florida night
I close my eyes as you lean in
But just as they open again
Snowflakes through the wind are blown
And I find myself all alone
Staring at the same bright star
Wondering why I’m not where you are
