First Kiss
By: R. A. Cvetich
I glance up at the gray and heavy sky
And realize what it is I want to do
When the first snowflakes begin to fly
I want to go and find my way to you
Then we can escape and flee so far
As the snow floats gently down from high above
Then I want to run into your arms
And finally show you how much I’m in love
I want to feel your hand brush against mine
As the snow falls and rests upon your hair
Maybe we will lose all track of time
But lost in you, I know that I won’t care
I long to see the sparkle in your eyes
That tells me everything I need to know
Like the sparkling flakes that drop down from the sky
I feel just as if I’ll start to float
I long to have my hands held tight in yours
Your fingers easing all the cold away
I know that I can’t wait much anymore
Inside I’m sure that today is the day
For comfort covers me here in your arms
But my racing heart is filled with such unrest
And I can hear the pounding of your heart
As my head inches closer to your chest
I gaze up in your eyes and hold my breath
As you slowly lean in towards me
I’m ready but I’m still scared half to death
But there’s no where else on Earth I’d rather be
We won’t forget, no matter where we are
This memory that cannot be replaced
When I couldn’t stop the beating of my heart
As you wrapped your strong arms around my waist
Fear and joy filled me at the same time
For I had waited all my life for this
As I felt your lips brushing against mine
In our perfect, unforgettable first kiss.
